3D DIY Kawaii Nails

I love the over the top style of Kawaii nail art and in my April Kawaii box (you can read the full review here) I got some funky glitters which I thought would be really cool to use on my nails. Kawaii nails are all about excess - the crazier the better and they typically use 3D decorations such as bows, lollipops, cakes, gems etc. Although this kind of nail art isn't really popular in the UK there are loads of 3D decorations you can buy on Ebay.

I started by painting my nails white using Essie in Blanc, I did two coats and while the second coat was still wet I dipped the nails I wanted to be glittery in the glitter. I didn't make every nail glittery as I wanted to go for a mix and match look. I used two colours of glitter - pink and white. Once the second coat of nail varnish had dried I used nail glue to stick the decorations onto the nails one by one (this can be a bit tricky and I had to rope Olly in to help!). I chose a mixed packet of charms from Ebay which included donuts, cupcakes and bows. Once the nail glue had dried I sealed with a top coat and voila...Kawaii nails!

Have you tried DIY Kawaii nails or have you got any tips and tricks?
