DIY Mickey Mouse Picture

If you are a little bit Disney obsessed like me then you will probably always be trying to find little ways to add Disney into your daily life, and there's nothing better than a little bit of Disney in your home! I got the idea to make these cute little Mickey Mouse canvases when I found these wooden Mickey Mouse heads on eBay. I didn't know what I was going to do with them at the time but I knew I needed them! Ebay is definitely my favourite place to buy craft supplies as you can find some really unusual things and it's always so cheap. I had some mini canvases in the flat that I had bought from Tiger a few months ago (definitely my second favourite place for craft supplies!) and I thought it might look quite cute if I painted the Mickey Mouse heads and stuck them on to make a little picture!

I started by painting the wooden heads different pastel colours - pink, blue, purple and green. I gave them a few coats to make sure the colour was nice and solid and then once fully dry I simply glued them onto the canvases, it was that simple! I think they look really cute next to my Disney Castle picture and were fun and easy to make. Have you tried any Disney DIY's before?

What's On My Dressing Table: January

1. Beauty Blender - I'd heard so many good things about the beauty blender and after using the Real Techniques sponge for the last few months I decided to give the beauty blender a go. It works pretty well however to be honest I don't think it's any better than the RT version which is much cheaper! I also don't like that you have to wet the beauty blender before you use it (yes I'm lazy) and it doesn't seem to be lasting as well as my RT one. Don't get me wrong it's a great sponge, but I just think the RT version does the same job for half the price

2. Jo Malone Mini Colognes - I bought a set of mini Jo Malone colognes from the Christmas range as I wanted to try some new fragrances. I am loving the Peony & Blush Suede and English Pear & Freesia! Read my full review of the set here

3. Bath & Bodyworks Anti-Bac - yes it's flu season, which means you need anti-bac at the ready! Daisy bought me this lovely one from Bath & Bodyworks for Christmas and I just love that it is pink and glittery! It also smells amazing. I can't wait to stock up on more of these when I go to Florida

4. Kylie Jenner Lip Kit - I ordered this back in November and it finally arrived! Although I feel like I ordered it so long ago that I'm a bit over it now, I was caught up in the hype! I got the colour 'Candy K' as it's a pinky nude which was the best option for my skin tone. It's ok but I feel like there's better options for half the price, especially since I had to pay almost the same price as the product in postage, customs and Royal Mail admin fees :(

5. Dreamweave Fibregenics Mascara - this is my current mascara that I've been using for a couple of months now. It seems to have lasted pretty well considering it's a fibre mascara and I must say it makes my lashes look super long. Read my full review of it here

Little Mermaid Cupcakes

I haven't made cupcakes in a while, especially Disney cupcakes, in fact the last ones I made were the Alice In Wonderland ones back in November. So my latest baking project was to make these Little Mermaid cuties. When making themed cakes I usually try to think of everything I need beforehand and spend a few days sourcing everything so ensure they're perfect. This time I knew I wanted silver cake cases (because silver is mermaidy obviously), sugar shells and mini pearls for decoration and of course the Little Mermaid rice paper toppers. I usually buy all this stuff from eBay as it's cheap and convenient.

I wasn't too fussed about the icing colour at first and thought I might do either a pink or blue but then I had a brainwave to swirl pink and blue together in true mermaid style. I watched a few youtube videos on how to do this and I'm actually pretty pleased with the result, not bad for a first attempt I think! I love the way that it turns a bit purpley when the pink touches the blue. I've listed the recipe below which makes about 10 cakes, and Of course it is a requirement to sing 'Under The Sea' loudly while making these!

♥ 110g soft butter
♥ 110g caster sugar
♥ 110g self raising flour
♥ 1 medium egg

♥ 150g soft butter
♥ 350g icing sugar
♥ Blue food colouring
♥ Pink food colouring
♥ Decorations

♥ Mix butter and sugar together until smooth
♥ Beat egg in a separate bowl and then mix this in with the butter and sugar mix
♥ Gradually add in the flour an combine until smooth
♥ Spoon into cake cases
♥ Bake for 12-15 minutes at 200C
♥ Mix butter and icing sugar in a bowl
♥ Once smooth separate the icing into halves and put one half in another bowl
♥ Add pink food colouring to one half, and blue to the other and mix
♥ Spoon icing into piping bag, it can be tricky but try to put pink on one side and blue on the other
♥ Once the cakes are fully cool ice them and then add decorations

Disney Nails

Ok lets just take a moment to appreciate the awesomeness of these nails! As a huge Disney fan I couldn't be happier with the recent nail art that I got done by Nancy McNails. I've been following her on Instagram for a while and finally decided to book an appointment. It was so difficult deciding what to get as she does so many amazing characters. I considered getting the Tsum Tsum designs, or possibly The Simpsons, but in the end I decided to stay classic and go for Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Daisy.

The salon Nancy works in is located on Brick Lane in trendy East London so I excitedly booked myself an appointment for a Saturday afternoon. There is a half price offer on for all nail appointments in January so I just couldn't say no to that! The detail in the characters is just incredible and she draws them all free hand. I'm planning on going back before I go to Florida in April to get a full set of Disney nails ready for Disney World! If you love nail art I would definitely recommend taking a look through her instagram as her designs are just amazing. What do you think of my Disney nails? Have you tried any Disney nail art?

A Winter Sale OOTD

One of my favourite things about winter is the winter sales! I much prefer them to the summer sales as you can buy all the coats and boots, yay! So today's OOTD post combines a few of my favourite recent sale purchases. First I think I should start with the oh-my-goodness-it's-so-beautiful-I-could-cry Chloe Drew bag. I had been thinking about buying a Chloe Drew for a while and when I found this mini python one on sale I felt like it was fate. The size is perfect for me as I don't like using big bags, especially in winter when you already have enough layers. It's such a classic style and the gold hardware and chain are super classy (it even got my dad's seal of approval as he helped me choose it!).

My fur collar waistcoat is from Zara and was down from £90 to £60. Since it hasn't got any sleeves it's certainly not one for those super cold days but it's actually surprisingly warm as it's made from wool and the faux fur collar is sooo cosy. I was worried about the length on me at first as I'm pretty short so wouldn't normally but longer coats but I actually really like having a longer option. Although I didn't buy my ripped jeans recently I did get them during the summer sales from River Island, reduced from £40 to £20 which I was pretty pleased with. These are definitely my favourite jeans! Have you bought anything in the winter sales?

Dreamweave Fibregenics Mascara Review

The search for the perfect mascara is like the search for the Holy Grail. There are certain mascaras that I think are great (Lancome Hypnose, Benefit They're Real and Charlotte Tilbury are a few faves of mine) but I rarely buy the same mascara twice as I'm always striving to find a better one.

The latest mascara I tried is Fibregenics Direct Bond Mascara from Dreamweave. I hadn't actually heard of this brand before but I saw a few pictures on Instagram of this mascara and thought the results looked great so decided to give it a go. I've used fibre mascaras before and love the lengthening effect but applying mascara, fibre, then mascara again can be time consuming and tricky. With Fibregenics there is just a single mascara which already has the fibres in it, so it's meant to be as quick and easy to apply as a regular mascara.

My verdict: The image on the left is before and the image on the right is after I've curled my eyelashes and then applied about 3 coats of the mascara. At first I found it a little bit tricky to use and even though it is only a single mascara it is still quite time consuming to build up and sometimes in the morning before work I don't have time. It lasts ok throughout the day but I did find that some of the fibres fell off onto my face which wasn't great. Overall it's a pretty decent mascara, but like the others I've tried I probably won't rebuy.

I bought mine from a local beauty salon but you can buy it online here and I think the price is pretty good. I'm not sure how long this mascara will last before running out or drying up due to the fibres as other fibre mascaras I've had tend to get clumpy very quickly. I've had mine for about a month and a half so far though and it seems fine.

White Chocolate Oreo Cookie Pops

What's better than an Oreo? A white chocolate Oreo cookie pop covered in sprinkles! I've seen these around on Pinterest and thought it looked so easy I should give it a go. It only took about 10 minutes and they taste soooo good! You don't need many ingredients and I love that you can decorate them in lots of different ways

♥ Oreos
♥ White chocolate
♥ Sprinkles
♥ Lollipop sticks

♥ Twist the Oreos to separate the two biscuit pieces
♥ Melt white chocolate - I did mine in the microwave as I find it easier
♥ Stick the lollipop stick to the side of the Oreo with the cream using a bit of the white chocolate
♥ Put a bit more chocolate on top of the cream and then stick the other half of the Oreo on top
♥ Cover each biscuit in white chocolate using a spoon
♥ Once covered lie the Oreos on some grease proof paper on a tray/plate
♥ Sprinkle liberally with multi coloured sprinkles
♥ Put in the fridge for about an hour to set

Recent Disney Purchases & Gifts

Today's post is another little Disney haul! Although instead of buying all these things myself some of them were gifts over the festive period, aww people know me so well! Unfortunately as some of them were gifts I don't have links to them, as either I don't know where they were from, or you can't buy them on the internet, but hopefully that makes it a little bit more interesting.

♥ Marie Watch - my friend recently went to Disneyland Paris and brought this back for me. Isn's it the cutest watch ever?! I think it is a DLP exclusive as I've wanted it for a while but couldn't find it anywhere online

♥ Disney Princess Vans - I bought these for myself for my holiday to Florida which I am SO excited about. I also have a Minnie Mouse and Belle pair! Unfortunately these seem to be sold out everywhere now

♥ Minnie Mouse Statue of Liberty Tsum Tsum - someone I work with recently went to New York and brought this back for me! You can only buy it in the Disney Store in NY which is pretty cool

♥ Princess Figurines - Olly got me these as one of my presents for our £20 Disney Christmas Challenge

♥ Tsum Tsum phone case - I got this from my secret Santa at work, so cute!

Have you bought anything Disney related recently?!

My New Years Resolutions: 2016

It is officially 2016! I already prefer 2016 to 2015 because I can't write the number 5 properly which means writing the date has stressed me out for the whole year. Now I can write a 6 instead, lovely curly 6. So here's what I'm gonna do in 2016....

1. Get contact lenses
If I don't write this down I won't do it. I never wear my glasses as I don't like them but when I go to Florida this year (yay I can now say it's this year!) I want to be able to properly see and appreciate everything at Disneyland

2. Visit my parents more
It sucks living so far away from your parents. When I first moved to London I used to see them much more often, but that was when a return train ticket was £'s now about £70 and I just can't afford that on a regular basis. It's also a two and half hour train journey (plus an hours tube journey across London to Kings Cross) so if I go for the weekend there's just not enough time

3. Make good investments
I was pretty good at this last year but I want to keep doing it. Basically I want to move away from 'fast fashion' and instead buy fewer, good quality pieces. I also want to continue clearing out and selling any old clothes, shoes and bags I'm not using, it makes me feel so much better when I have a good de-clutter!

4. Be healthier
Again kinda Florida related, but like most people I always eat too much over the winter months so I need to make sure I'm eating a bit better and doing a bit more exercise in the next few months ready for bikini season!

Bring it on 2016, I'm ready for you! have you got any New Years Resolutions?
