My Dressing Table & Make Up Storage

I love reading other people's posts about their make-up storage so thought why not write my own?! If you follow me on Instagram or if you're a regular reader of my blog then you've probably seen my dressing table before in posts such as Our London Flat and What's On My Dressing Table, but I never get bored of re-arranging it and taking photos of it. I try to keep my dressing table as tidy as possible and love having fresh flowers on there. I have a bit of a thing for displaying flowers in Chanel bags so that's what I've done with the beautiful tulips in these pictures.

I store all of my everyday make-up in my Macy's cosmetics bag that I got when I went to New York a couple of years ago. I love having little trinkets and memories on my dressing table and I also have a snow globe from Henri Bendels in New York. Next to my everyday make-up bag I have a couple of everyday skincare items such as face creams and face masks. I keep my brushes in a pen pot holder that I got from Paperchase and it's ideal.

My dressing table has two small drawers either side of the mirror and then a larger drawer underneath that is split into 3 compartments. I use these drawers to keep things that I use often, but not everyday. The drawer on the right of my mirror stores all my expensive nail varnishes such as Chanel and Dior, and the one on the left has my other nail varnishes and a couple of lipsticks.

Pretty much everything else goes in the big drawer underneath! I recently had a clear out of this drawer which made me feel loads better and meant I could actually find more of my products. In here I have loads of hand creams (L'Occitane addict much?), skin care bits and bobs as well as some of my higher end products and palettes - YSL, Burberry, ABH etc. Unfortunately I don't have enough space on my dressing table to store everything so I've got some additional storage boxes and baskets where I keep everything else! What are your top tips for storing your make-up?

Reese's Peanut Butter Cup Cupcakes

I am obsessed with all things peanut butter (seriously I have a peanut butter sandwich for lunch everyday at work and I don't think that's healthy) and I am particularly obsessed with Reese's.  So it only makes sense to combine my love of peanut butter with my love of cakes, since I seem to have a constant supply of peanut butter cups in my flat. I decided to make chocolate cakes as I thought they would taste best with the peanut butter, but used vanilla icing so that cakes weren't too chocolatey!

I started by making the cake mix and then once I'd spooned it into the cases I added a small peanut butter cup to each cake. This way the cakes have a peanut butter cup baked into the middle which is pretty awesome. The once fully baked and cooled I added the icing and decorations. For the decorations I first drizzled each cake with caramel sauce, then added a peanut butter cup on top and Reese's Pieces around the edge. I also added the little gold straws as I thought they were cute and matched the gold cake cases!

For The Cakes
♥ 110g caster sugar
♥ 110g soft butter
♥ 100g self raising flour
♥ 10g cocoa powder
♥ 2 medium eggs
Small Peanut butter cups

For The Icing
♥ 150g soft butter
♥ 350g icing sugar
♥ Vanilla extract
Caramel sauce
Peanut butter cups
Reese's Pieces

Method
♥ Mix butter and sugar together until smooth
♥ Beat eggs in a separate bowl and then mix this in with the butter and sugar mix
♥ Gradually add in the flour and cocoa powder and combine until smooth
♥ Spoon into cake cases
♥ Add a small peanut butter cup to the centre of each cake and press down so you can just see the top
♥ Bake for 20 minutes at 180C
♥ Mix butter and icing sugar in a bowl
♥ Spoon icing into piping bag
♥ Once the cakes are fully cool ice them and then add decorations

Recent Disney Purchases & Gifts: February

♥ Tsum Tsum Stationery Set - I couldn't resist buying this, I mean c'mon it has highlighters in the shape of Tsum Tsums! I bought this from the Disney Store but couldn't find it on the website, but they have other stationery available

♥ Valentine's Tsum Tsums - Olly bought this set for me as a present for Valentine's Day and it is sooo cute. All the characters are wearing little outfits with hearts and bows! This was from the Disney Store but I've never seen it before so think it might be quite hard to get hold of

♥ Donald Duck Cosmetics Bag - Olly got me this for our anniversary (are you seeing a theme here with Disney themed gifts?!)

♥ Daisy Duck Tsum Tsum Socks - I already have the Donald Duck pair so obviously I had to get Daisy to match! They're only £2.95 from the Disney Store

I think next on my list to purchase will definitely be the Star Wars, Rapunzel and Easter Tsum Tsums!

Happy Valentine's Day

It's Valentine's Day! And love it or hate it you can't get away from it. Personally I love it, but thats because I love any excuse for presents and to eat a lot. Although me and Olly celebrate Valentine's Day we don't go crazy, we prefer to have a nice quiet one in the flat with a nice meal and a bottle of champagne. This year we made a deal that I would pay for and cook dinner, since Olly had already bought me some gifts and I hadn't planned on getting him anything! We got one of the 'dine in' meals from Waitrose for £20 which we ate last night and it was pretty nice, although we were very full afterwards!

Olly never disappoints me with his presents (as you might have seen from my anniversary post) and I am very cliche in that I love flowers, cuddly toys, chocolate and jewellery....and I got all 4 haha! My first present was the roses which Olly gave me on Friday. He met me at the tube station after work so we could walk home together and he was waiting there holding a bunch of 3 roses (each of which he had picked individually from a local florist!) it was the cutest thing ever. Then this morning he gave me my other 4 presents which were a giant Toblerone, Pandora charm, octopus cuddly toy (which I had tweeted about saying I loved) and a box of limited edition Valentine's Tsum Tsums.

I think the Tsum Tsums are my favourite gift as I've never actually seen this set before and each one is dressed in a cute little valentines outfit with hearts and bows and omg they're just so cute! For the rest of the day we are probably going to go for a walk round our local park and stop for lunch in the cafe. It's nice and sunny here in London, although very cold! Have you got any plans for Valentine's Day?

Bobbi Brown Mini Mask Trio

If you're a regular reader of my blog then you might know that I am obsessed with all things Bobbi Brown. It is my favourite make-up brand and I am rarely disappointed with their products. So when I heard they were bringing out a new range of face masks I couldn't wait to try them. Over the past year I've really got into face masks and find they are the perfect detox for my skin. My skin tends to be quite problematic but I find using a good face mask a couple of times a week keeps it in check.

As there are 3 face masks in the new range I knew I would have a tough time choosing which one to go for, and at £33 each they're not cheap. So I was very excited (probably a little bit too excited considering it's only a face mask!) when I found out that you can buy a miniature set of all 3 masks for just £10! This means you can test them all out and decide which is best for your skin. The 3 masks are as follows...

1. Instant Detox - this is like a clay mask and is meant to be a deep cleanse. I like this one as it dries fully and then you can rinse off

2. Skin Nourish - more for dry skin as it nourishes and reduces the appearance of fine lines. It feels really moisturising when applied and smells amazing. You also don't rinse it off but instead remove with a tissue and then massage in the residue

3. Radiance Boost - an exfoliating cream mask that smoothes skin and leaves it looking more radiant. I like the exfoliating texture of this but would probably only use it occasionally as I have sensitive skin

I've enjoyed using all the masks so far but I think my favourite is the instant detox as I'm a big fan of a clay mask. What's your favourite face mask that you use? Let me know in the comments!

Cute Valentines Heart Cookies

With Valentines Day only a week away it's time to do some lovey dovey baking! Hearts are cute right? But what's cuter than a heart? A heart with a little smiley face and rosy cheeks. These mini heart biscuits were really easy to make and I'm pretty sure that any significant other (or gal pal for that matter!) would love to receive these as a valentine's gift. Food is the way to someone's heart after all (well to mine, anyway).

I started with a simple biscuit recipe of butter, sugar, eggs and flour and cut my hearts out with a cookie cutter. Once all baked and cooled I used ready to roll icing in pink and red to decorate and then icing pens to draw the little faces. I always think it's nice if you can make something for Valentine's Day, don't get me wrong I love a present, but there's something a bit more special about a homemade gift. I think these biscuits would look super cute if you popped them in a little bag and tied with a pretty ribbon and gift tag! Are you doing anything fun for valentine's day?

Our 2 Year Anniversary

The 1st of February marked me and Olly's 2 year anniversary together! This isn't actually the date we started 'going out' but it's when we went on our first date, and since we were seeing each for a while before we made it official we decided that 1st February would be our anniversary, aww. In our 2 years together we've been to New York, Florida, Paris and Palma. We've seen musicals, had picnics and visited pretty much every tourist attraction there is in London. We moved in together, bought furniture together and started an unhealthy obsession with collecting Tsum Tsums.

We decided to celebrate our anniversary the weekend before as the 1st Feb was a Monday and who wants to celebrate on a Monday? First Olly surprised me with a beautiful bouquet of pinky purple fringed tulips and he also went out to a local cafe to pick up freshly baked pastries and hot chocolate to bring back so we could have breakfast in bed. Yum!

When Olly gave me all my presents I felt like it was my birthday! He really did spoil me and I can tell he put so much thought into every single gift. My favourite gifts are the personalised calendar and Pandora charm. If you follow me on Instagram you might have seen pictures of the book that Olly made for me for our one year anniversary, and this year he turned it into a calendar for me so I can have it up next to my desk at work. The Pandora charm is now my fourth and is a little 'Fairy Tale' book which is pretty perfect for me!

Other things he got me included a Kirby toy, because wasn't Kirby everyones favourite game on the Gameboy?! A donald duck cosmetics bag, mug, Cinderella shoe decoration, two mini tsum tsums, a Liz Climo book and a Princess Kaguya anime DVD. Phew! I really didn't expect so many presents, but it was nice to have lots of little things to open. I also need to mention the amazing card that I got for Olly from the super talented Claire from Aloha Lola Cards! I'd seen her stuff on Twitter and couldn't believe the amazing price for a personalised card. I told her I'd like the card to be me and Olly at Disneyland and sent her a few pictures and was so impressed with the result!
